My career started at 20, far away. Australia first, then Saudi Arabia. I learned to operate under pressure in cultures that weren't mine, reading people from dozens of nationalities in five minutes, understanding that elite service is ninety percent system and ten percent charisma. That was my operations school, though I didn't know it then.
I came back to Colombia with no money of my own. One night, in my room, I understood something cold and without drama: if I didn't change the entire structure of how I operated my life, I'd repeat the same loop at thirty-five, at forty. That night I stopped believing in the linear path.
I joined the family business. Univercity, twenty years of operation. My parents had built something solid, but what happens in almost every family business in Latin America was happening: the business had grown faster than its systems. Orders via WhatsApp. Accounts by hand. All client information in my mom's head.
One day I watched my dad manually repeat a calculation that a well-built spreadsheet solved in three seconds. And I understood it wasn't lack of ability. It was lack of time and language to build the system the business deserved. If I didn't do it, nobody would.
My dad once told me, almost in passing: "Son, what you build in silence is what nobody can take from you." That phrase explains why C.I.A. operates under the radar and why I prefer a real client over a viral post.
A few months ago I was admitted to a Master in Management with residencies in Dubai, China, and Madrid. It cost over a hundred thousand dollars. For months I prepared believing it was the next step. Until I understood something: I didn't want the dream, I wanted the reflection of the dream. Becoming the person who bills millions doesn't depend on geography or debt. It depends on one thing: the speed at which you learn. I said no. That day I started building faster than ever.
C.I.A. stands for Applied Intelligence Consulting. The word that matters is applied. I don't sell AI as a concept. I translate it into systems that operate real businesses while their owners sleep, travel, or spend time with their family.
Our parents' generation built with hands and heart. Twenty years of physical work, decisions at the lunch table, trust that weighed more than the contract. That generation wasn't wrong. But the world moved. If our generation doesn't learn to build with systems, we get eaten.
